President’s Message
Happy New Year!
I was proud and profoundly grateful for the compassion and generosity the Caucus demonstrated in the generous monetary and tangible donations collected at the December meeting for the EOC LGBTQ+ Resource Center and Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. The contribution to Planned Parenthood was $255 and the Resource Center received a car full of tangible goodies and $830. Both of these organizations serve communities that reflect NWPC’s core values and were very appreciative of our generosity!
I did however forget to make collect for our Los Amigos food server, Jennifer, who works very hard to anticipate our requests and serve us efficiently. This end-of-the-year gift-giving is an NWPC tradition and I sincerely regret my omission. We will take a collection in January and start her year knowing of our gratitude and respect.
The new NWPC Board will meet in January to set our goals for 2024 and we look forward to another outstanding year!
- We have a newly revised website thanks to the efforts of web master Kim Ghelerter! Thank you so much, Kim! Check it out! https://nwpcfresno.org/
- It is a treat to kick off the year with the only Valley congressman who is supportive of women’s issues. Congressman Jim Costa, our 2022 NWPC “Good Guy” will be our January speaker. We will also be joined by Congressional candidate Marisa Wood who will be traveling from Bakersfield to be our guest.
Longtime NWPC member Judge Annette LaRue recently passed away. Annette was a trailblazer and lifelong advocate for women’s rights. She broke many barriers for women and women attorneys throughout her career. A more in-depth article about her life will be published in the February newsletter. NWPC offers heartfelt condolences to her family. We will miss you, Judge!
Please plan on attending and inviting a friend. Let’s start this year with commitment and hope!
In Equality,
Marsha
